SMART Demonstration Projects

On April 26, 2018 the Miami-Dade TPO Governing Board unanimously approved Resolution #14-18 endorsing the development of the SMART Demonstration Projects initiative, which identifies and implements demonstration projects that advance elements of the SMART Plan. TPO staff then coordinated with transportation partner agencies for the funding and implementation of SMART Plan demonstration projects. Then on June 21, 2018 the Miami-Dade TPO Governing Board approved the following projects to move forward:

This program includes projects with a duration of up to no more than three years, with a commitment to continue the project if deemed successful by the project sponsor. Funding is a collaborative effort, and depending on the scope and cost of the demonstration project, the TPO may seek federal and/or state funds to be allocated up to one half of the net project cost, but not more than the amount of funding committed by the project sponsor. A local match minimum pledge of 50% of estimated project cost is required of all applicants.
